Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to have for my appointment?
You must present a valid, government-issued photo ID such as:
- Driver's License or State ID
- Passport
- Military ID
- Permanent Resident Card
The ID must be current (not expired) and match the name on the document being notarized.
How much do your notary services cost?
As set by § 161.2(a) of Pennsylvania State, we are legally required to apply PA Standard Pricing for all notarial acts.
However:
- Travel fees apply and vary by location ($15+).
- Some services, like I-9 verification, fingerprinting, or apostille facilitation, are billed at a flat rate
- See pricing tab for full rates.
💡 You’ll always get a quote before the appointment is confirmed so you know exactly what to expect.
What types of documents can you notarize?
We can notarize most types of legal and personal documents, including but not limited to:
- Affidavits
- School Forms
- Powers of Attorney
- Wills & Estate Documents
- Real Estate Closing Documents
- Financial Forms
- Travel Letters for Minors
Can you come to my home, hospital, or office?
Yes! Precision Notary is a fully mobile notary service. We meet you wherever’s most convenient—including homes, offices, hospitals, senior living centers, coffee shops, and more.
Can you notarize for a family member?
We follow Pennsylvania law, which prohibits notarizing for someone if you have a direct or financial interest in the document. So while you can notarize for a relative in some cases, we recommend avoiding it to ensure legal validity.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently accept:
- Cash
- Debit/Credit Card (via Square)
- Venmo
- Check
Payment is due at the time of service.
What is an apostille and do I need one?
An apostille is a certification that makes your notarized document valid for use in foreign countries. We don’t issue apostilles, but we help prepare and submit the paperwork to the Pennsylvania Department of State on your behalf.
What is the difference between a jurat and an acknowledgment?
Jurat: You sign in front of the notary and swear or affirm that the contents are true.
Acknowledgement: You confirm that you signed the document willingly.
If you're unsure, we'll explain the difference, but you must choose the appropriate act.
